Marty and Louise
Koonce
As we are getting ready for our furlough it is hard to
contain our excitement about seeing friends and family. I thought that
as this is our fourth one that the pre-furlough excitement would wane a
little, but not that we can tell. The boys and mom are holding our first
ever in Togo garage sale. We thought it was time to clean out as much of
the stuff as possible before we replaced it with newer stuff from our
furlough. It is a vicious cycle we are caught in.
Marty should know better than to plan a ton of work right before
furlough, but with the two week loss of time in Ghana, he couldn't help
himself. Most of his meetings have held, though, and things seem ready
for us to be able to depart with peace in our hearts. If only we can
just get packed.
Please pray for the following needs. Atitogon and Tabligbo will begin
training other groups in the next few weeks. Vogan's first group is
evangelizing (pray it goes well). Pray their second group will take
responsibility and do as well one day. Pray for Afakomi as they will be
receiving training from Papa Koffi. Pray for Topeglo as the Tabligbo
church hopes to strengthen them through additional evangelism. Pray for
the rain to really pick up in frequency. Some areas are really
struggling. Pray for our health to be good upon returning stateside and
that all the travel doesn't wipe us out. God bless you and we praise him
for your faithfulness.
The Koonces
Anthony and Maureen Parker
We had a great worship service last Sunday with the
Tsadome church, and were able to participate in a baby dedication. Toglo
and Alice, very active leaders in the church who married later in life,
have been blessed with a baby boy, Jacob. It was great to see the church
rejoicing in this gift of hope and life from God.
Our apologies for not following up last week on the previous request for
prayer for Komlanvi, the man from Batoe who was missing. He did return
home the following day, having been delayed in Vogan. Maureen was able
to give him and his wife a lift back to their village, as she was going
out to visit some sick children. We thank God for watching over his
children.
Anthony had a productive week working on Train & Multiply booklets this
week, with four more now ready for printing. He missed this week's
session with the Tabligbo elders (Marty met with them), when he took
Papa Koffi (one of the elders) and his wife Adjo to the hospital in
Afagnan. Adjo is experiencing problems related to high blood pressure.
Jeremy and Jonathan have enjoyed playing with the Koonce boys this week,
and will miss them when they go on furlough. We are all looking forwaard
to the Crowsons' return. Please pray for Jonathan, as he has malaria and
has been running a fever for the past couple of days.
Jeff and Brenda Holland
This has been a good week for our family. Brenda and
Rebecca are doing great. We had visits this week from Brenda' parents,
Jeff's parents, and Jeff's brother's family.
Next week we go to Missouri to be with all of Brenda's brothers and
sisters and their families. We'll spend two weeks in Missouri with
Brenda's parents. We hope that while we are there, we will have an
easier time getting on the internet.
